The Music Ministry of St. Joseph the Worker has an exciting year ahead, beginning with our November 5 presentation of Dan Forrest's Jubilate Deo. This is our first opportunity to collaborate with our friends from St. Thomas The Apostle Parish (Steel Valley) and St. Rosalia Church (Greenfield) and we welcome back our friends from Temple David Synagogue (Monroeville). The concert will feature a 50 member choir, accompanied by a 30 piece orchestra! What a terrific way to start the concert year!
In December, our traditional Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will feature our choirs and the Good Shepherd Ringers.
The prayerfully beautiful Tenebrae: A Service of Shadows is a highlight of Triduum and will return to the beautiful St. John Fisher Church.
Details of these fabulous events are listed below (and Jubilate Deo gets it's own page!). Be sure to read all about it, and join us as often as you are able.
Continuing a tradition that dates back nearly 40 years in our previous parishes, the St. Joseph the Worker Music Ministry Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols intersperses readings from scripture with choral selections from our choirs to retell the story of the Nativity of our Lord. By reaching back to humankind's earliest contact with God, the story of Adam and Eve, then through the words of the prophets, and finally to the story of Christ's humble birth, the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols offers attendees a stirring reminder of the real reason for the Advent / Christmas Season.
The SJW Choirs are joined by the Good Shepherd Ringers, and are accompanied by a string quartet, under the direction of Norm Chapman. This event is free to attend, although your free-will offering will be gratefully accepted.
Lessons & Carols will be held at St. Maurice Church, 2001 Ardmore Blvd, Forest Hills, PA. You can click on the address for a Google Map.

The ancient Tenebrae Service dates back to the early years of the church. Coming from the Latin word meaning “Shadows,” Tenebrae depicts the flight of the disciples and the approaching crucifixion through the extinguishing of candles and the dimming of lights. Our service features scripture readings, prayer and choral selections by the SJW Choir and a string quartet, under the direction of our Director of Music Ministries, Norm Chapman. Tenebrae is an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
Tenebrae will be held at St. John Fisher Church, 33 Lewin Lane, Churchill, PA. You can click on the address for a Google Map.
