The Role of Catholic Altar Servers
Altar servers play a vital role in the liturgical life of the Catholic Church, assisting the priest and deacon during Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Their service enhances the reverence and smooth flow of the sacred rites, allowing the congregation to more fully participate in the mystery of the Eucharist.
Who Can Be an Altar Server?
Altar servers are typically young members of the parish who have received their First Holy Communion and demonstrate a desire to serve at the altar with reverence and commitment. While many altar servers begin in their youth, individuals of all ages are welcome to participate in this meaningful ministry. A good altar server is attentive, respectful, and willing to learn the rituals and responsibilities associated with the Mass.
